"Based on a short story by Tolstoy, this work played on Broadway starring Gerald Hiken. After seeing a Russian production I worked on its translation into English. Published by Samuel French with my staging concept, the play continues to be produced in both amateur and professional productions all over the world. This is a work of pure theater. Using the audience's imagination on an almost bare stage, the actors alternately play horses and people in Tolstoy's view of humanity through the eyes of a horse."
